Basel II is the second of the Basel Accords, which are recommendations on banking laws and regulations issued by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. The purpose of Basel II, which initially was published in June 2004, is to create an international standard that banking regulators can use when creating regulations about how much capital banks need to put aside to guard against the types of financial and operational risks banks face. Advocates of Basel II believe that such an international standard can help protect the international financial system from the types of problems that might arise should a major bank or a series of banks collapse. In practice, Basel II attempts to accomplish this by setting up rigorous risk and capital management requirements designed to ensure that a bank holds capital reserves appropriate to the risk the bank exposes itself to through its lending and investment practices. Generally speaking, these rules mean that the greater risk to which the bank is exposed, the greater the amount of capital the bank needs to hold to safeguard its solvency and overall economic stability.

Have to start studying on that...preferably over the weekend... to prove my worth!

First day of training

Attended my first training under AO, technically speaking, it's not exactly a training cos people who attended all have background knowledge on the credit risk. But from the session, i get a better picture of what to expect :) so for me, as long as no coding, everything else would be ok for me... but will have to struggle with BASEL.. anyone to guide me?

Think very soon i'll not be updating so often.

Tomorrow will sign my appointment/employment letter.

Watched 27 dresses, not as nice as expected.. somehow, something is missing...

My "victory"

Was pretty bored cleaning up my room, so i decided to take pictures of my purchases yesterday:

However, during photo taking, i realised there was a little damage on the lacy portion of the dress, so i brought it back to have it changed. Still find the shop keeper a nice lady :)

Was quite pleased with today's cleaning progress, now i'm left with a few spots to complete packing n cleaning... then would be toilet washing, but it would be a few days b4 cny :)

I can't believe how absent-minded i was... i actually forgot that i have keyboard class today... so guilty!! no wonder i keep feeling i forgot something... sighh, memory failing le.

Then as for my progress on watching 白色巨塔 i realised the seller made a mistake with the discs, those for part 1 are packed under part 2... which means i can't watch from episode 19 onwards.. grrr... wanted to watch 魔女宥熙 but i realised it was in korean, with subtitles, so it implies i can't watch while cleaning... sighhh so sad... i guess my next best bet will be heroes ba... haha.. meanwhile, i'm still trying to catch the rest of 白色巨塔 from youtube but it's very problematic... patience wearing off...

The Mist

Since we got 2 pairs movie tickets to use before jan ends, one for weekday (fr purchase of macbook) n another fr credit card voucher, we decided to watch the mist and 27 seven dresses respectively.



The show is about this mist that clouded a town and how the people trapped in a supermart reacted to the mist. Apparently, there are creatures which attacks human beings in the mist. But the story is more on how the people handled the situation. Quite a heavy storyline n quite bloody also. However, i really dislike the ending cos it's not a happy ending for all. A group of 9 people decided to leave the supermart so that they could have at least more chances of survival. however, only 5 made it to the vehicle. The other 4 got eaten up, obviously. They keep travelling until they ran out of fuel. They thought that was the end of it. So, with a gun of only 4 bullets, the male lead killed all the other 4 people in the vehicle, including his son whom he fought so hard to protect. Since there's no bullet to kill himself, he decided to go into the mist to be eaten. But wad faced him was not the monsters, but an army tank. Help has arrive, but too late. Can you imagine how painful it was for him to face all these? They fought so that they could have higher chances of survival, yet, ironically, those who stayed in the supermart were saved. Not an enjoyable ending, but it's quite true. In life, you can try as hard as you could, but things may not turn out to be the way you wanted it. Well, that's life..

Sad stuffs aside, i went to suntec for some cny shopping n was quite happy to have some returns :) was wondering if the new 'stalls' located at the 3rd story between the 2 towers are ready for business n indeed, they're operating :) managed to get 1 casual red dress from one of the shops there and another more formal dress from a shop which sells korean outfits. I got to say that i like both dresses very much. N i highly recommend the korean outfit shop, because the quality of the clothes there are much better than those i've encountered, claiming to be selling korean fashion. Though 40% of the shops in the area are not open, i feel that it's quite a nice place to shop :) Maybe i'll post the pictures of the outfit when i wear them during cny!

I also got a pink top with little grey stars from fashion lab :) i like it too. seems like i've been buying nothing but tops n dress... haha... well skirts dun bother me that much cos you can't really tell the diff....

Will need another round of shopping for working clothes after cny, cos the clothes i used to wear will appear too casual for my next job, esp when u have a female boss who tells you she encourages her staff to wear nicely... wish me luck that i can woo her heart with my capability, my life will be easier then.

To-Do list:
- cleanup room for cny.. 30% completed, target completion date 27th Jan 2008!
- buy cny clothes.. 90% completed, another pair of shoes and a skirt will be just nice, but it's not a must-have..

Early Friday

Woke up at 6.20 this morning cos the second round of interview with AO at 830 am... but in the end, i still take a cab there. Thanks to my miscalculation n the stupid lift at my house.. realised it's super ex to take cab during peak hour... n cos i took the driver's advice to go by pie, there was heavy traffic so uncle charge me lesser.. hehe...

but it's scary lor... ERP 3 bucks, Peak hour $5.40... but it's still worth it cos i reached there earlier n the interviewer is already there, so we started early :) it went well...then talked abt renumeration, but it's a serious pay cut, but i'm prepared for cos it's a total switch in job scope n nature, plus it's a perm position, expected to reduce the base.. n my past experience is not in terms of finance... sighhh... i think this door leads to many other doors, so it's okay lah... getting geared for challange! Otherwise i really very hard to reach out to wad i wanna attain... but of cos all these are only talk talk... can only gauge when i started work there... but i think my per hour rate will go up, since i've always been doing OT back then... hehee

But for people like dardar... he'll never understand how i felt cos i really am not all that good yet, i rather prove myself first then demand for more.. haha.. cos unlike him, i got no sales figure to prove how good i am... so i won't bargain for that much, if i joined the IT co, i'll bargain for more.. but for this, it's a totally new thing... i'm still fresh n green lah.... so i can still take it... But anyway, lesser base also good la... keke.. when apply flat then won't hit cap so easily also.. haha

i expect to travel overseas for this postion... n if dar get his next job, he will also have to travel... hmm wonder how we'll cope with all these travelling... but i can feel myself being more adventurous in term of my career.. i really hope this is the cup of tea for me!

Next week will start unpaid training... but if i dun take up, i'll be slacking at home also.. so go for training also good la :)

Rainy Wednesday

This morning went for interview at AO. It doesn't feel very official because it's held at delifrance. But nonetheless it went pretty smooth i guess, now awaiting for 2nd interview with HR. Keep my fingers crossed. I'm very keen on this position because it's a consulting role. Very steep learning curve is expected but i'm prepared for it, at least it's learning about things i would prefer to learn (instead of all the technical stuffs) n it's sorta a crossover for me. So wish me luck!!! Hope all goes on well :) I'm pretty sure it'll be the working experience I wanna gain, it's more on the human aspect of the job, yet technical knowledge is also required. Hope i can do a good job with it! The interviewer is a nice person also.

Just when i'm thinking there's no interviews for this week, the other offer's 2nd interview has been arranged on friday... hmm wonder how will it go. Today also received miss call during my interview, wonder if it's other job interview. But if they wan me they'll call again, else it's no fate lor cos the number is withheld...

Will be starting on my wardrobe today... think it'll use a divide n conquer method, starting with my clothes first, the biggest pie! Maybe tmr will go to gym...

I'm addicted to Wii

Wii is so much fun!!! hehee... started playing the games we bought :)

We tried the fishing one, which is quite easy for me, except the casting portion cos i no strength to cast the fishing rod. :) but nonetheless it's fun!!

We also played the resident evil, with the gun mould... so it feels like the arcade game. It's nice sia!! usually i play quite lousily in arcades, but using wii, it's easier also...

Can't wait to start playing harry potter!!! :)

N i better start creating my facebook acct.... my friends are nagging!!!! hahaha... think i very jialat...

Yesterday went for sponsorship sales position, but think it's not suitable for me...

Wad do i wan??! i also dunno....

Target of the day: start packing my wardrobe.

It's a new week!

For the last Friday..

Basically moving stuffs into my macbook for the entire day n went for salsa class. I was rather worried that i will embarrass myself during the salsa class.. n also worried that the people in the class will be all aunties n uncles... but it turns out the class is rather alright.. crowd not too old, only a few older ones.. the others are around our age or just a little older i guess. N thankfully, the steps are still not too hard to grasp, thus i'm still coping... hee... But i'm really happy that tracy had fun there :) so smiling so brilliantly, brimming with confidence. Dunno when was the last time i saw her like that :) i'll be attracted to her if i'm a guy sia... hee hee... my knee and feet was aching after the end of the session...

After that went to meet up the chemistry gals at minds cafe (mind that i'm from soc) then harold, tracy n qi went to smu campus to hang around n have some drinks. Had a really great time chatting with them... :D

Saturday..

Went for ktv n then complete the shrek 3 wii game! yeah!!!

Sunday..

Went to JB holiday plaza. Bought a whole lot of DVDs and Wii games! hee hee can't wait to start playing the wii games. Foresee a lot of weekends spent at jb house, but i don't mind cos i always dislike going to town on weekends :P However careless dardar cut his big toe by some rough edge of the stair... so poor thing.. hope he recovers fast fast... Today JK also brought his gf along, hmm she's quite nice, but seems like a very serious person.
But it took us 2 hours to clear the singapore custom from JB to Spore! Guess a lot of people went over to get CNY stuffs ba, luckily, when we're approaching the customs, the officers opened up the cargo lane for us!!!! heee first time to use that lane, seems like dardar is quite lucky afterall, haha... else dunno when will we clear the customs. The only regret is i dun have chance to shop for clothes. It's too crowded anyway.. but really happy dear bought his stuffs real cheap cheap.. hehe

Just a random thought, it seems like when ger meets boi, ger doesn't like certain things abt boi, although she can't accept it, but she always hope that boi will change, for her. But usually it doesn't happen... but ger will always hope that he will, until she really totally give up... it's a ger thing ba...
Quoting from my mum n jb's mum: "Don't expect a guy to change/treat ger better after marriage", which i think is very true, for all the practical reasons!! hahaha.... GUYS... so gers out there, enjoy the 'special' treatment while it lasts! hahaa

my wisdom tooth is getting on my nerves.. *ouch* hope that thurs dental appt can come real soon!!

Will be having 2 interviews this week. Wish me luck!! :) need to start work soon... feeling the pinch in my pocket...

Today session at MuC was quite seriously problematic... not just me.. but others as well. Cos very last min change instrumentalist, hence we have problem coordinating the music n the singing. Plus the guitarist dun really know the songs we sing, n he is the only instrumentalist... I'm really apologetic to the audience for the substandard performance.... *guilty**guilty* but we are all trying our best.. hope they'll understand >.< 

I'm starting to switch my usage to mostly macbook le.... still adjusting...

Look forward to salsa class tmr!! :)

Random thoughts

Thought i'll just drop a quick note while i still have internet connection...

Today brought gerrard to chinatown to buy his traditional chinese boy outfit for cny with mum n cousin.... it's fun but tiring to constantly having to keep an eye on him. but he's rather cooperative today :)

Had a very long chat with mum n cousin (btw we are all w the zodiac sign mouse)... realised i'm quite a lucky person. Lucky in the sense that the people around me help me to grow, influence me to be a better person. N i have the sense to interpret certain things and see things from another perspective, which is a very useful quality.

Hence i must try to do the same to people around me and constantly remind myself how lucky and fortunate i am :)

N a breakthrough before year 2007 ends, we finally get to meet up, with full attendance!! it's great being able to meet up with u peeps! It was a little waste of alcohol though... cos dear tracy keeps dropping the cups...

N a very nice xmas 2007 spent at vivo / mt fabor... :)
Sighh i dunno why in firefox the text is aligned to the left but in i.e. it's in the centre... nvm... i give up...

anyway, i think i'll post more photos since mac has blue tooth.. which means i can transfer pictures fr my handphone without connecting the cable :)

Revived

After motivated by my pri school friend, i decided to revive my blog... although i think no one reads it anyway le... but i'll use it upload pics...
Plus now no more working till 12 am.. i guess i have some spare time on hand to maintain it... *keeping fingers crossed*

First thing on hand, to change the blog template to something more picture conducive..
